Supposedly, a bar won't be licensed until next year, which seems like a very long time. Dinner isn't being served and there's no bar. The food was excellent and the prices fair. Wider steps would at least help if an elevator can't be installed. There is no bellman or porter to assist with luggage up the stairs. The stairs are incredibly steep and could be deadly. What hotel doesn't provide a bar of soap? As other reviews have said, there is no elevator. Only an unlabeled dispenser with what is presumably liquid hand wash. The en suite bathroom has an excellent walk-in shower, but the design omitted some shelves and usable space.

You can only watch streaming TV channels, which, like the no telephone, is stupid. There's a huge new TV (huge relative to the size of the room) but it doesn't receive any TV channels. No information is provided on who to contact overnight if something happens.

The room doesn't have a coffeemaker (coffee and tea are available free of charge in the lobby), there's no fridge, no ice bucket to keep something cold, no clock, and no telephone. The queen-sized room is really only practicable for a solo traveler with virtually no luggage. If you are staying for more than one night, staying in the winter when you have bulkier winter clothes, or are traveling with someone else, book the biggest room available. There is a clothes rack with a half-dozen or so thin hangers.

I actually had to put my luggage in the bathroom. There is basically no room for luggage bigger than a duffel bag or backpack. The new design appears to have enlarged the size of the en suite bathroom at the expense of space in the room itself. If you didn't know better, the room could be in New York, Chicago or Denver. I don't understand how the interior designer failed to incorporate any of the hotel's heritage or the history of Leadville into the design/decor of the rooms. You may or may not have a renovated room, which features one of those hipster chic designs that looks great but is disconnected from the heritage of the hotel and doesn't really work in practice due to design flaws. Not only does this minimize noise from the lobby, but the location overlooking a side street is quieter than a main street-facing room. I ended up getting 210, which is near the back of the hotel.

Despite going through the digital check-in process I still had to complete all the formalities. At check-in, I was never greeted or thanked for staying. For starters, an extensive construction and renovation is occurring. I really wanted to like the Delaware Hotel.
